Due to low battery status, Tempest’s wind sampling interval is only once every five minutes and gusts are not reported. This is the main reason wind is not reported as strong it really is. Waiting for manufacturer’s solution to the lack-of-solar-power-on-high-latitudes issue.

It’s Snowing!
We got first snow cover on Xmas Day. Station Master turned on rain collector heater. This must be one of the latest winter days of station’s history to do that.
About Rain and Wind Measurement
Due to low power state, Tempest has set some sensors completely offline and with the rest of the sensors, sampling happens with 5 minutes interval only. This is why Tempest is currently not able to register rain and wind gusting. Station Master hooked old Vantage Pro rain bucked back online and restored rain data collected...
Rain Measurement Offline
Currently WS Nagu is not showing rain due to WeatherFlow Tempest low power status. Station Master is working on to connect old Davis rain bucket online to get rain measured in these situations.
Erratic Rain Measurements
New Tempest hardware is attached on top of a pole rising some 2 metres above Station Master’s house’s rooftop. This setup causes now issues with rain measurement when weather is windy. Obviously wind causes vibrations to pole and sensor unit, and the haptic rain sensor interprets this as rain. Until issue is resolved, rain gauge...
Waiting for Sun and Power Booster
Station’s new hardware, WeatherFlow Tempest is solar powered without no possibility to provide external power to it. (To be accurate, the sensor unit located outdoors is solar powered; there is a base station indoors connected to wifi and it is powered by USB adapter). After installation on November 25, it has been overcast all the...

Weather Station Nagu uses Google AdSense technology to display advertisements on station pages. This makes it possible to Station Master to receive a few euros per year for maintaining this service. Lately, Google AdSense has started displaying “full window” advertisements while a page is loading. This is a bit annoying, and Station Master has tried...
