After being online for a month, Flightradar24 receiver at Weather Station Nagu (F-EFTU7) is ranked the third best in Finland! Globally the rank is currently 509th among thousands of radars. So the position is ideal. Maybe increasing the antenna mast height would improve rank further?

Fixing ISS Transmitter Failed
Station Master replaced the failing transmitter today with a spare part obtained from a friend’s obsolete Vantage Pro. That transmitter seems to work as should, which is great news! Then, the idea was to service the original transmitter by replacing the obvious reason to increased battery consumption, failed superconductor. After opening the cover, it was...
Component Causing Trouble
Troubleshooting of the ISS transmitter has proceeded. Probably the faulty component is this shown in the image.
Missing Data And Script Error
Due to temporarily failed hardware (reason for that currently being unknown), there is data missing from database between March 6, 2020 at 7.30pm and March 7, 2020 at 6pm. This revealed a bug in the script that displays the minimum and maximum values of the current month on the front page. Minimum Barometer value was...
WS Back Online, But for How Long?
The transmitter unit of ISS started working after two battery changes, but it reports that battery status is low. This very likely indicates that the condensator of the transmitter unit has come to end of its life, so online status cannot be guaranteed to last long. However, there is hope for quick remedy: a friend...
Sensor Suite Transmitter Failed
Looks that the transmitter of ISS (Integrated Sensor Suite) has failed. Station Master is checking out the situation, but if this really is the case, outage might be a long one.
It’s snowing!
This would hardly be any breaking news in Finland at this time of year, but during this winter and on these latitudes it now is. Station Master had switched of the rain collector heater to save electricity, but switched it now back on. Rain measurement will be slightly delayed, though. Maybe it would be a...
Flightradar24 Statistics
Flightradar24 receiver (code name F-EFTU7) has been online at WS Nagu a bit over a week now. Radar sees typically 40-60 aircraft at any given moment and detection radius is about 250 nautical miles (463 km). Receiver has followed about 700 planes daily. Detection range to all directions reveals that receiver antenna location at WS...
Current Rain Rate Fixed
A while ago, Station Master added Current Rain Rate back under Rainfall gauge. Just today, he noticed rate showing 0.0 mm/h though it was raining quite much. Reason was simple. There was a typo in code parsing the XML containing weather data. You know, for computers, ”R” and ”r” are completely different letters. Well, parsing...
